I have a 94 3.0 4x4 Ranger and the 4 high works fine. When I push the button on the dash to ingauge 4 low, I get no light and it does not go into 4 low.
I made sure I was at a dead stop, in neutral and in 4 high but still nothing.
Is there any thing I should be looking for as far as fuses?
Does anyone know what ingauges the 4 low at the transfer case? There a lots of components on the T-case with wiring, but I don't know what to check for.
well, it sounds like your doing everything right, in 4x4, in neutral, when you push the button the thing should light up. It sounds like a connection problem. Usually if its mechanical i think the light flashes at you (I think, someone correct me if i'm wrong)
I would inspect the connections related to the 4x4 electrical components. After that, I'd grab a schematic and use it to determine if voltage needed to operate 4 lo is present at the appropriate connectors as well as verify that the switch is good.

you didnt say if you have auto or manual trans. with the manual you have to keep the clutch pedal pressed in while being stopped , in netral, with 4x4 light on. i thought i had a problem until i read that i was doing it wrong. dont have any ideas if you have the auto. dont think its the shift motor though if it goes between 2 high and 4 high.
