i was considering putting a 4bbl carb on my 300-6 it has a 1 barel now and i was wondering were i would get the intake manifold needed to use a 4bbl or what i need to do?
I have the "C" on my truck and like it very well. However I think the numbers on the web sites are over-inflated! But there is an improvement over stock. Before I did my conversion I researched this for about a year. I found about equal split on pros/cons of "C" and "DP" Offy. I chose the "C" only because I lucked into an individual about 2 miles from me selling an Offy "C" in and trader paper for $150.00. That was the same day I decided to order an intake. I can't complain about the performance.
One thing I regret not doing at the same time was changing the cam!
oldhalftons have you tried the offen intake? or are you just going by what you have heard?
I had no luck getting a satisfactory (for me) performance increase with the dual port intake
had the carb situated so the primaries were on the short runners (like offy says too)then switched the primaries to the long runners and it was a little better .
now I'm running a C-series/600 holley vac secondary/headman headers.
So far the best upgrade on a STOCK 300 (stock cam/and log exhaust manifold/single 2" pipe) is a C-series intake and a holley 2300 2bbl mounted with a 4bbl/2bbl adapter. this actually gets more seat-of-the-pants feel than a exhaust upgrade.
I'm running the DP and like it alot. I've always wondered if the C series would make that big of a difference. I had both and chose the DP w/390, headers and no cam. I thought the exhaust gave the best improvement for the buck though. First I changed out the whole exhaust system, went with a high flow cat, dynomax cat back and originally had a new exhaust manifold. I couldnt believe the difference it mAde. I then added headers and the DP/390 combo. All it seemed to do was expand the powerband. A bigger carb may expand it a little more but I'm thinking the effect will be limited due to the cam.
I installed my carb without the spacer today, since I don't think the people I bought it from are ever going to ship it. I don't think they are trying to rip me off but the certainly are slow. I am afraid to give them negative feedback because they could do the same in retaliation.
Without the spacer you may have some clearance issues with the throttle linkage. Be careful, the last thing you want is for that sucker to get hung up at WOT!
