ok, the classifieds today had a new listing in them. a set of 4 Super Swamper Boggers 35 x 14.50 x 15 on 15 x 10 chrome modular rims.
2 are 90% tread and the other 2 are 60% tread.
my question is they want 400 for rims and tires. is 60% tread a decent tire still? or is it noticeable (in appearance and off road performance). i would really like to upgrade to 35"s, and i could get the tires and have 2 sets, you know "just in case" and when i get my lift, throw the 35s on. i just dont know if this is a deal to jump on or what. a little advice would be appreciated.
Check the tires over carefully. You want to look for signs of uneven wear. I mean a bogger is not going to show the best signs of wear, of course. Boggers have such deep tread, 60% might not be bad at all. If they are cupped, or feathered, a trueing machine will make them perfectly round again. I think Ive heard of boggers lasting as long as 30,000 miles with care. Maybe that helps
the manufacturers website should give you the factory tread depth, so you can get an idea of how deep it was originally, and how deep it should be by their claimed percentages.
ok, well, i just sprained the crap out of my ankle last night, so now im on crutches, and its my driving foot, so i might call him later, im not really in a rush, i know stuff will come up later. well see.
