1999 Mountaineer V6. This morning I tried to enter using the remote. The lock mechanisum started cycling on all four doors. The cycling continued until I removed the fuse for that system. I let it set for several hours and still get cycling. Any suggestions?
Just a guess but i'd look at the door lock relay which is probably under the hood. Take a look at your wiring diagram it will tell you where the relay is located. I think there are 2, just swap them & see what it does.
Thanks for info. I have checked the Power Dis. Box under the hood. There seems to be relays for everything but the door locks! There is fuse[30 amp]. Will have to get my hands on a detailed wiring diag. Rechecked system today and still cycling. Doesn't seem to be an individual door lock mechanism.
It must be in the logic in front of the individual doors.

I was thinking 87 Ranger which reverses polarity thru the door lock motors with lock & unlock relays BUT i see in the Electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual for my 95 Taurus that they simply use the door switches to reverse polarity. No longer using the relays. Check what stonem77 mentioned & if thats not it, maybe you have a stuck switch or short to ground somewhere. BTW, you can get the XLNT Ford electrical troubleshooting manual at www.helminc.com Good luck with it.
Thank all for info. The Power Lock Control switch seems to be involved in some way. If the cycling starts, I push down on UNLOCK and hold. The cycling will stop. The LOCK position is unresponsive, either on drivers side or the passenger side.
I will look into the manual mentioned.
If moisture, do you think there is chance that drying will restore proper logic??
Problem SOLVED-- One last check before taking to dealer. The rear control switch[rocker] was depressed by a recent cargo. Rocking the switch cleared the problem!! Thanks to all who responded.
