I saw a Ford accessories book with a module listed as follows:
"Daytime Running Lamp with Auto Headlamp Module."
I am interested in installing this module on my 2004 S/D. Does anyone know if this involves simply plugging in a relay, or is there other changes that have to be made? Where does the module plug in? Is there additional parts or a wiring harness that have to be added?
The listing for the module states "Dealer installation recommended", however, I don't know what skill levels that the accessory book is aimed at.
I think there is possibly a module you can plug in. You are the opposite of everybody else, since 99.9% of the time, people get on here and want to know how to disable the DRL's. There was a guy on here with I think a van, who found the module behind the radiator support, jumped around it, and disabled the DRL's. I see in the diagrams where it seems like it plugs in, but there is more to it than just the module for the headlights. It's tied in with a switch on the parking brake too. I don't know if you will have to change the parking brake switch or not.
I installed factory DRL and autolamps in my wifes Taurus. I ordered the kit from the Ford accessory book.. When I got it I found it was just an aftermarket kit with a Ford branding that required wiring in to the factory harness and had a hokey looking light sensor with wires that you string up to the top of the dash. I declined the order and sent it back and built my own factory harness and installed all factory parts instead. The kit may be just fine for your everyday addon acessory but I wanted true factory stuff and am well pleased with the end result.

I just installed this kit in my 2000 and it works great, ya I was a little disapointed about the looks of the sensor but hey the 2000 super duty of mine didn't even have the option that I'm aware of. The only problem I had was that the park brake is supposed to deactivate the drls and the autolamp but mine only sometimes worked so I came up with an idea all of my own and it works like it would have come from the factory. Yes it does require finding wires and splicing into them instead of plug and play. Good luck on what ever you chose.
