How much to rebuild rear end???

I have a 1990 F-150 with a 3.55 rear end and my question is how much should i pay to have it rebuilt by a shop?

Is that a 9" rear?

It depends on what you want done. A shop near me said they'd rebuild mine for around $150 plus parts. Figure around $150-$200 for bearings and gears, but you can look that up on e-bay or at Randy's Ring & Pinion.

Kevin, I have a 1990 F-150 XLT 2X4 Extra cab short bed with a 302EFI AOD tranny. It has 170,800 miles on it. I've put all new pipes cat's and two flowmaster 40's on that all cost me about $600. Also I had a new center bearing put in and u-jount. Also the breaks are about 70% left on them, tires are 50% left. Need's a ball joint in the front and a wheel alignment also needs the tranny rebuilt and rear end rebuilt. The price I got for the tranny was $1,000 to $1,700 to have fixed in 1 to 2 days on site. I've spent about $1,300 on it, it was given to me by my father.
Well, my question is should I spend the money to have the tranny rebuilt and rear end?
If anyone has any input or questions please post them!

I say rebuild the tranny yourself...and let the shop do the rearend for you. It should be about $400 to rebuild the rearend...and with about 3 days time and about $300 you can rebuild the tranny yourself. Just make sure to have a GOOD manual before you tear into the tranny and watch how everything comes apart. Take pictures if you must.

That may present a problem then... My guess is that $1000 should get you a good rebuild...just make sure to get the wide ratio kit, have extra clutches installed, and a hardened input shaft.
