powerstroke shutting down
I have a 1999 f350 powerstroke 141k miles without a chip. I just filled up last night and this morning driving to work my engine service soon light came on then the truck died. It started back up and did the same thing 5 more times. Finally got the truck home and here I am . I did a search and would like a secound option. I pray it is my CPS but may be the fuel I paid 169.9 a gal. Hope to hear from you soon.

Ford F250 shuts down
Hey Todd my 1999 F250 just started doing the same thing, also after a tank of gas. It only has 110,000 miles on it. I tried getting new fuel and an additive for it. New fuel/air filters. None of which solved my problem.
What does cps stand for, how much did it cost, and is it hard to install?
Thanks for your help.

It's actually not called a CPS, it's a CMP Sensor. It stands for CaMshaft Position Sensor. You can usually buy one from International for under $100 which is about 1/2 of what Ford charges. Here's some other information for you:

Thanks for all the input there guys. Just last night my abs light came on and my speedometer will not function under 30 mph. I will be changing out the speed sensor as well the cmp. I got a real busy week coming up so it won't be till mid week or so, but I will post a follow up asap.
