I have a problem with the A/C vents, they will only blow out of the top defrost vents. I did get it to come out the vents the other day when it was raining; I can only figure out that there is some kind of vacuum leak outside under the hood. Has anybody else had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated....<O</O
Check under the passenger side dash area. Have heard of a vacuum hose that gets pulled off easily that creates vent control problems.
I also changed your title to help get more responses. I've seen this subject many times but cannot remember the exact cause. Hopefully, someone reading the title will know off-hand.
Definitely check the vacuum hoses under the dash. My wifes Taurus had this problem where it would only blow cool air through the defrost vents. With a little investigating, I found two vacuum hoses off the regulator behind the climate control panel. Hopefully the X is easier to work on.
The motor is working all the time. I have tried to check the vac lines around there and behind the glove box. No luck. I do however think when i put it in 4wh drive the light comes on but i don't think the front tires are pulling. I also have problem when idle of not having power stering. Could either of these be the culprit. I also have searched through all the threds with no luck finding the problem.
Can anyone tell me if the vacuum motor should run all the time? I only have the ignition key on with nothing running that should run on vacuum and the motor runs constantly.
Just thought i would let everyone know that I ended up taking it to the dealer. It was the 4WD Vacuum Switch Part # F81Z-9H465-BA. Ended up costing me $268.09 with tax.
I had the same thing happen on my 02' TJ, just had to fix the hose which is very small diameter on TJ's. I had a small cut in it so, I cut the hose in half and used the gray casing for telephone wire and that did the trick. Not sure how this will apply to your situation, but may help someone.
