Ok, here's a problem. What could be the cause of this? A truck, with a v-6 motor, has spark and compression, and when a fuel pressure test is done on it, it reads 60 psi as the pump is running, and when it turns off it drops to 55. The engine cranks and cranks, when you step on the gas pedal, it just cranks and cranks, with no change in anything. If you throw a little gas in the TB it roughly sputters and dies. What is the first thing that comes to mind?
I'm wondering if its not some kind of fuel shut off sensor. It all started when someone cut off the catalytic converter, muffler, etc and strait piped it. It ran rough and started getting worse. Then it just didnt run anymore. The cat was replaced, and still, no action. What could be the problem? it obviously isnt getting gas through the injectors.
I"m kinda weary to ask this question on a this site, cause its happening to a chevy 4.3 vortec in a blazer. I'm asking it for a friend who cant get it running, and is nearly to the point of breaking down and gettting it hauled into a shop and paying $$$ to get it fixed (us kids dont have alot of cash). I'd ask it on a chevy site, but i figure ford guys/gals are alot nicer and smarter
there's definantly spark, cant confirm if the o2's were messed with. i dont think so, since they just ran it back from the manifolds, and he said he never got any check engine lights on, and his check engine light isnt burnt out or anything. I think its a 91 or so blazer. I'm almost 100% sure that its not getting gas, cause the thing doesnt even sputter, and it doesnt smell like gas or anything. then you dump a little down the throttle body, and it sputters.
I wish i could see. I tried to look, and couldnt find anything. the darn vortec's have everything under the upper intake manifold. Plus he didnt have a shop light or anything. I was wondering if maybe it's that or either a fuel pump shut off switch that got triggered. Problem is i dont know if his blazer has one, and if it does, i dont know where it is.
I would check the CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor) and its wires. Usually, there are two coolant sensor. One in the radiator and one near the engine block. The coolant sensor near the engine block is what the computer is monitoring.
To my recollection on our vehicle with Fuel Injection, my CTS broke in half and tried to put it back with some cheap super glue and our vehicle would not start and I check the CTS again but the super glue did not hold it up. I used some two part mixture of glue and it held up the CTS together and then the engine started fine.
I'm going to guess that when he straight piped it he messed up the O2 sensor, and it's causing the computer to shut down the injectors.
I say this because it started when he messed with the exhaust, and now you only get the thing to start by pouring gas in it. Sounds like you aren't getting any fuel through the injectors.

I'll have to disagree with you there. The 02 sensor only works when the motor is running... atleast so I've been told.
It wouldn't have anything to do w/ initial fireup.
check and see if the fuel pump is working, do this by having one person by the fuel tank listening, the otherperson turning the ignition switch on and off, if you hear the pump cycle then it working , the cutoff relay should be behind the passenger side kick panel, its got a little button that should be depressed. next get a 12volt test light and see if you have power going to the fuel pump.
The fuel pump is definantly running, i can hear it. And the fuel pressure checks out right where its supposed to be (55-60). For some reason nothing is getting through the injectors. I wonder if strait piping it didnt melt the fuel injectors or somthing.
the fuel regulator ? power at each injector? should be a "pulse volt" for lack of a better term, computer not telling it to inject? they should "click"
