I had the same problem on my Bronco (351, 1989) and it turned out to be the EGR valve. I just took it off, cleaned it inside and out with carb cleaner (and some WD40) and put it back on. The EGR sensor was fine.
Up to that point, I'd replaced the MAP sensor and the TPS with no results.
Sounds like the FPR to me too. But, before you start throwing parts at it as some might suggest, get a Haynes manual and test these parts first before throwing out your money on the table.
BTW....I typically buy electrical components (i.e. TPS) at Napa. You will pay a couple of bucks more than Da Zone but the Echlin brand that they care is of a similar quality to OEM.
I would check your EGR valve. If it sticks open it will act like a massiave vacume leak. This will cause the idle problem and will contribute to higher gasmileage.
The absolute, no fail solution is to ditch the yankees, then, I would have to agree with the TPS underneath of the throttle body. I had a check engine light in my 1988 EFI 302 and the same conditions, and the new TPS cleared both.
