helping a friend with a 1991 f150, 300-6, 5spd. truck has about 146,000 mi. truck cold starts well, but if it has been run to operating temperature and shut off, truck will not start. if allowed to cool about 30 min. truck starts. while hot truck turns over slow almost like with a dead battery. starter was recently replaced, and the charging system checked out fine at that time. truck will start if jumped off. any ideas? i noticed that the exhaust pipe is close to the starter, would this cause the starter to overheat and drag? any help would be appreciated. trying to do the work ourselves as he is a teenager on a budget.
