Introducing myself
I took the plunge and upgraded my truck status. I recently sold my 01 Lightning and got a 03 F250 6.0. I am pretty excited to begin with some safe fun mods such as exhaust, perhaps a tuner or chip and so on. Are there any "free" mods for this engine that I can do? I am new to the whole diesel thing so be gentel.

I don't know if anything associated with these trucks is free but there are a lot of mods to be done and fuel additives that can slightly perk up performance and mileage. Read all the the related threads on the subjects and enjoy. Welcome to the FTE family!

I gatered up stock exausts that were removed for exaust upgrades. Then I built a straight pipe out of used exaust. I built it so that it can be unbolted incase I need to reinstall the muffler. seems to have lowered egt's by about 100-150 degress as well as produces awesome sound when I get on it. at cruise speed and highyway driving it sounds stock. hope this helps jerry

Exhaust, Predator programmer, air intake, etc..., etc..., etc...
can all put your wallet at the redline !!!!
I had straight exhausted my Ex but it was too loud on long trips and so I got a turbo back that gave me a few more ponies...
then got a predator that gave me a BUNCH of ponies (proven 100 RWHP!)
Now NEED to get an air intake to keep up with Choctaw Bob's horsepower !
Upgraded fog lights to 9005's for some real light, upgraded headlamps, and wiring harness to get brighter lights...
Some have done the zoodad mod on the front of the air intake, some SCREAM that water injestion is a certainty if you do it, and your an idiot to do it...
well duh, have had it for 2 years and no problems for me...
gosh - the list goes on and on in our quest to make our trucks OUR trucks !
but, it's all good !

Thanks for the info guys. I am located in Maryland, but I spend alot of time at out property in New York which is the primary reason that I upgraded the truck. 9 mos out of the year I need four wheel drive to get to the cabin.
