you can modify the 360 mounts to work, just drill another hole in the rubber motor mount, they hold up good, my dad did this to his old truck and it lasted till it rusted out and I have done it to one. Just gotta figure out where to drill the extra hole, not that hard. But you will also need another tranney.

im going to be doing the same swap here this winter and i'm not really thinking its gonna be that hard after i get the parts. i have the bell for the np435, and the 460. i need to get the motor mounts and the accessory mounts. other than this,
I think thats about all thats involved. i'm not looking at it being too difficult, but, im sure im wrong about that one.

67 ranger I have a 73 model F100. I just finished going from a 390 with a 4 speed to a 460 with a c6. The engine stands that bolt to the frame are completely different from a FE to a 460. Is there anything else you would like to know? I can also send pictures if you need them. My truck is a 2 wheel drive.

My 460 was a bolt in instalation, and all the wires that hooked up to my 390 hooked up the same way to my 460. By the same token, I would not do it again. For just a little more money you can build your 360 in to a 390. I did a stock rebuild on my 390 and added an Edelbrock intake, headers, msd ignition, and ford duraspark ignition. It was very simple to work on, got 14 miles per gallon, would pull anything that I put in the bed, and run well over 100 MPH. I am actualy thinking about pulling my 460 out and going back to the 390. I think my 390 was as good as the 460, and a lot cheaper on gas.

I totally agree. My boss sold me a 428 and put in a 460 which sucks back the gas. Gas is $3.85/us gallon in Vancouver.
I love my 428 it has a fresh rebouild .060 over, mild cam, intake, headers etc and it has tons of power. With my stock 3.55 and a red line of 4500 it's scary fast with 28 year old brakes!!

Vehicles are a system, you have to get all the parts to work together to make them efficient. The engine displacement, cam, rear axle ratio, transmission, tire size, etc, etc, all must be right in order to get mileage. When you start looking for excess power, towing capacity, etc you have to compromise.
