COLD STARTING

AFTER READING MOST OF THESE POSTINGS I CONCLUDED IT MUST BE MY GLOW PLUGS OR CONTROLLER. WENT TO PEP-BOYS GOT BOTCH GLOW PLUGS AND NAPA
FOR CONTROLLER 154.00 STILL NO BETTER. SHOULD I ORDER A WIRE HARNESS
FROM FORD A COUPLE OF THE INSULATION BOOTS WERE ROTTED SO I FITTED A SPARK PLUG BOOT ?? WELL IT WORKED I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS CORRECT.

MY PROBLEM IS VERY SPICIFIC COLD STARTING. THIS MOTOR TURNS RIGHT
OVER WHEN ITS WARMED UP.
IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE ACTUALLY COLD OUT THOUGH IT COULD BE 60 DEGREES
IF I DON'T PLUG IT IN IT WON'T START.
IF I PLUG IT IN IT WILL ROAR!

Hmm, new plugs and relay. My problem was the relay but I also have two bad glow plugs. After replacing the relay it starts but chugs a little before warming up.

How long does your "wait to start" light stay on when cold? Check out the cold starting troubleshooting post, it has some tests that may help you.

COLD STARTING

Man EZ845, sorry to hear 'bout your troubles! Not a good time of the year to go replacin' all that stuff. Hope it all works out well for ya. Incidently, my old 6.2L (GM boat anchor) never had more than 5 plugs workin' in it's life with me. But with h*ll strong batteries I never had a problem until it got down to below freezin'. I see you replaced your batteries, good.

Good luck and Merry Christmas!! :-X12
