picked up the parts to do the large cap conversion at noon(85 mustang stuff... neat).
I'd really like to run some Ford Racing wires, but no one lists a part number for an FE application.
Are you guys running small block wires, or big block wires, and what are you running for boots? 45*, 90* straight?
I've got stock logs now, but will 'eventually' thro some FlowTechs on.
Summit told me I should grab a set for a 460... dunno?
I'm not trying to go faster, thanks tho.
I'm trying to rid the truck of a miss, so I can pass emmissions... and the Autozone cheapo's I have on there now are litterally falling apart.
For an update...
The 5.0 wires with 45* boots fit like a glove, however, there is no way to connect to the coil.
My truck sits in the driveway useless... all for a coil wire that works with the big cap conversion, and the stupid female coil interface.
I installed the large cap on my 65 352 and used a set of Bosch 8.5mm wires from Autozone. The set came with two different styles of the coil wire and works great.
that would have been nice... the 2 coil wire deal...
since I have no clue how old the coil is, or what shape it's in, I'm going to go ahead and grab an msd blaster 3... it's got the required spark plug type post on it... and is cheaper than a set of wires.
new plugs, new 'big' cap and rotor, new wires and new coil... hopefully that cures the miss.
well.
no luck, same miss... guess that is why I'm not a mechanic.
The dizzy is a stocker, and likely a million years old.
Only things that have not been replaced in the ignition department are the condensor, and the dizzy itself.
Another thing that is strange, is, I can set the points on Saturday, and by Wednesday they are fubar'd again.
Why would my points continually go out of adjustment in such short order?
Am I facing a case of a plain old wore out dizzy?
I don't get it.
