I have a 1998 Mazda B4000. The breaks start grabbing when ever they get wet. Started off just every once in a while, but now its every time it rains they grab. Even if I just drive through the car wash they grab. Any ideas?
Ya, my '91 Ranger does this too. In fact, I've heard alot of the guy's on here complain on this too. I really dont think that there is anything you can do about it. You might try to do a search of this forum and see what you can find.
My 97 Ranger does the same thing as does pretty much every work truck I've driven.
There is absolutely no resonable substitute for top quality brake pads & shoes. The ones on the work trucks are the same as what's used on ambulances. They go 60k km on pads & 80k km on shoes. The "white box" junk only go about 25 & 40.
Not to mention that the good stuff stops BETTER!!!
This is strictly from experience, not just my opinion.
I had the same problem with my 2001 Ranger. It actually caused an accident. I recently replaced the brakes and havn't had the problem since. One of the shoes was actually broken at that time. It was never a problem until I had my truck for a couple of years. When it was still under warrranty, I brought it in and the dealer said there was nothing wrong. It was just one of the many problems I have had with my Ranger.
This is a common complaint; as Ken00 noted replace the shoes with a good aftermarket brand. Ford OEM shoes seem vulnerable to absorbing moisture, especially in heavy rains.
Since I posted this question, I haven't had time to check for replies. I was kind of thinking that it might be the break pads. I replaced the fronts last summer, but have not even looked at the rears. I think this is a good time to do that.
