Is there anything dangerous like steering parts or something holding the wheels on that could make loud clanking and banging noises when you hit bumps?
Jack the front of the truck up and set on jack stands. Grasp the tire at 12 & 6 position and try to pull the bottom of the tire out at the same time try to push the top of the tire in and then the reverse. If there is a movement in or out you have a ball joint problem. Then grasp the tire at 3 & 9 position and move in and out - if you have play or movement, it's a tie rod, stearing arm or idler arm. You can also check the front shocks to see if they are loose.
Get a good set of jack stands and don't get under the truck when you are trying to move the front tires.
