What sets the odometer?
My '99 I just bought had a cracked plastic piece in front of the gauges and the spedometer was really scratched up. Truck has low miles so my question is, if I pick up a used instrument cluster, will it still read the same, or will it read whatever the new one had? Where is this info stored? The odometer is electronic so hopefully it's in the main computer? Please let me know. Thank you

The new cluster will read the miles that were on the truck you took it from. As far as I know, only the dealer can get you a new cluster with the right milage on the odometer. I don't think there is any other way to reprogram the odometer, which would techniclly be illegal anyway.
