I have to replace the turn signal harness in my 1976 F250 (390) and need to replace the bearing in the column that is right behind the harness plate, my haynes and chiltons are not very helpfull. By the way, anyone with a signal problem know where to get an aftermarket harness (not rebuild cam)?
Thanks
There is no cheap NEW turn signal harness. They are available, but run about $80, YMMV.
To remove the bearing on a non-tilt column, compress the lock ring with a pair of lock ring pliers and remove, then CAREFULLY pry out the bearing with a screwdriver or dental pick. Surrounding the bearing is a fragile little rubber "grease condom" which can tear easily if you don't work slow and methodically.
