O.K.....I'm starting to get discouraged with my dang truck..its a 95 f150, 300, with the 5sp mazada tranny, 4wd. At first i was about to change the clutch and slave cylinder because I have this awful squeaking when the clutch pedal is out. But now i have noticed it seems to do this when the gas pedal is pushed, and only seems to do it until i reach about 35-40mph. I have checked and greased my driveshafts, steering and suspension componets, which all seem to be in good working order. I know this squeaking or chirping sound might be a pain in the rear to locate, but has any one had this happen to their truck? Could it be the throw out bearing?. I removed the plug on the side of the tranny and everything seemed to look ok. This squeak started about one week ago and is driving me nuts....if I cant get rid of it, i might have to sell the truck..lol
does the noise stop if you depress the clutch peddle slightly. try that and if so I'd bet its the throw out bearing. if you go in there you might as well do the clutch to. smell inside the cover or just remove it so you can look for oil or burnt clutch, that might give you a clue to. slipping clutch should give you higher rpms like your spinning the tires until it catches up. how many miles, around 100k you say, probably time for a clutch job, especially if you tow a load often.
It's in the cab directly behind the clutch master cylinder. It's attached to the same rod actually. It is black, cylindrical and about 3" long as I remember with several wires coming out. Just spray the rod and pivot with a white grease type of lube (WD-40 is useless for this kind of thing) and work the pedal a few times. Remeber to get all of the pivot bushings too (white nylon bushings on the cross shaft from the pedal to the switch.
i found the problem......when i checked and greased my u-joints, they seemed to be fine to me...but after taking them off, the needle bearings were shot. in takinf the u-joints out, i stripped one bolt the attaches to the rear end....so i just grinded the head of it off, then got vise grips on it, and it came right off....had to go to the local dealer to get replacements..but after a nice long road test..the truck is back in my good graces..lol..thanks for the help
