Tranny stalling before engaging
Need some guidance. I have a 99 F150 XLT Sport 4.6 engine, auto trans 4X4. Just the other day my transmission started acting goofy. When idle or startup it won't shift from park into drive smoothly until the RPMs go up. It takes 15 seconds to get going and then seems to run file. I thought fluid - I was down a bit so I put a quart in and it seemed to go away. It's back again this morning and now it's starting to do this at long stop lights. It's like the torque convert empties out of fluid and has to refill or something. No noise or any other signals from the tranny. Should I have the filter and fluid changed and hope for the best or should I just bite the bullit and have the dealer scope it out?
