I was changing every 3,000, but I am switching to 3500 - 4000 (I think the newer oils are better, and the spec. is for 5000 anyway). It stays clean. I would say, every 4000 miles, 6 months, or if it looks dark, whichever comes first.

I change both cars when either one of them reaches 4,000 miles or the second one hits 3,000. I drive my truck a lot less, so it's more like just once a year regardless of mileage--usually still well under 3,000.

You needed more choices for the poll. You neglected to include a '5000 mile' choice, leaving us to pick over 5k. I run Mobil 1, and change mine every 4500-5000 miles.

Old school here

Mine get oil changes at the 3000 mark. Tire rotations every 2nd change along with an air filter. Fuel filters at the 15,000 mark. Yes the oil is probably better and will last 7,000 but old habits are hard to break.

It varies. I got in the habbit of changing it once a month on the first weekend of the month. In the summer that is between 4-5K and the winter it is usually between 2500 and 3K. I also run a Semi-Syn oil. I also change the tranny fluid every other month in my M5OD just because it is easy to get to.

About every 3000 miles or 6 months whichever comes first. I have a company vehicle, I don't put many miles on my personal ones..

I change my truck between 3000 and 4000, change it in my wife's TrailBlazer about every other time I get mine. She doesn't drive nowhere near as much as I do

I had a guy who was selling Amsoil synthetic tell me that he would go 100,000 mi. on the stuff between oil changes, just changing the filter and adding a quart every 5,000 miles. I found that a little hard to swallow as the oil still gets contaminated with combustion by-products, even if it didn't break down like conventional petroleum-based oil, as he claimed. I wouldn't do it in any of my vehicles. Even with full synth. it just looks dirty by 5 or 6 thou....I wonder if he ever made it to 100,000 with that thing!

I've always changed my oil at 3000 miles. Some people say to wait longer but I'll stick with 3000 miles since I make the payments

Just as a side note: we're starting to get hard info on the Escape Hybrid, and one of the things they talk about is oil changes. Because the gas engine will automatically shut itself down at stop lights, and the electric motor will be doing most of the work in city driving anyways, recommended oil-change interval on this puppy will be 10,000 miles. If the technology all works properly and reliably, this will be one amazing little vehicle.

In my vehicles I change oil before every 3,000 miles I try and change around 2,200. (some of my vehicles have over 200,000 miles one has over 400,ooo) - On small gas engines I change about every 3rd time I mow, or every 3 months on items such as generators that are hardly ever used. I may add that while these might be excessive- my stuff runs nearly forever. It makes me believe that maintence keeps the problems away. ALot of people will argue that you don't need to change oil that often that's fine- they can believe what they want to. I once knew a guy that never changed oil at 42,ooo he was replacing a seized engine- I think that says alot as well.
