I doctor freind asked me to repair the power steering on his 75 250 4x4 crew cab, so I said ok. Bad mistake! Well I dont have anything else to work on except a Fiat spider so this will be a snap in comparison. lol !!! The steering hasn't worked in like 20 years. It has or did have Power assist steering but the rack and pump with brackets are missing. It turns out that the engine was replaced with another rebuilt engine and along with that M/T valve covers, Edl. manifold and an AFB carb installed. We dont know it the same size engine was installed.
This sucker is large, larger than my 360 Dodge. Where are the numbers that will tell me what size it realy is so I can buy the brackets, and pulley to install my new pump? The spider is looking better all the time!
Odds are if the engine is original it is a 360. But that's not important for what you're working on. Most/all FE's are identical on the outside so you just need a set of pump brackets for the FE family of engines. Look for something for a 360, 390, or 428. (352, 406, 410, 427 are also included but much rarer in trucks).
Thanks guys and or gals as the case may be.You are correct about checking the stroke. If it becomes ness. in the future I will do so. The issue here is infact the pump brackets. And now I can go get parts.
This is the best info site i have seen in quite some time.
