ok first off i got a few ?'s
1. i was thinking of rebuilding my c6 transmition for my senoir project next year and i was wondering what all it intailed. i know it isnt somthing that is real easy but is it somthing that a kid in high school could do. i have a fair amount of mecanical background but i have never even touched a transmittion.
2. i seen a wide ratio kit in summit. has anyone used one of these and what spicificly are the benifits.
any other info on this topic would be helpfull thanx
The wide ratio kit changes the first and second gear ratios from 2.47 and 1.43 to 2.7x and 1.55 if I remember the ratios correctly. The lower ratios would be good for towing or offroading or if you have a high (numerically low) axle ratio in your truck or are running oversize tires with the stock axle ratio. If I rebuild my C6, I'm planning to go with the low gear kit, since it is only about $350.
I say go for it...I rebuilt mine. For a wide ratio c6, you need the e4od planets, sun shell, ring gear, and various other things I don't remember right this second. Make sure to keep it CLEAN and check EVERYTHINg for wear.
