I just bought this 2002 f250 psd, lariet crewcab. I have a question after I wait till the glow plug light goes off. When the truck cranks up for about 5 minutes I hear a noise like someone has hit my truck. I have took it back to the dealer but he cannot find anything. It only does it after the truck is not running for a while. Is this noise common.

Congrats on your new truck! Some V10 owners will experience a thumping noise after start-up. Where the sound derives from is somewhat under debate.
Some say it is the AC door closing. But that doesn't jive with me. Mine is definantly the AC COMPRESSOR clutch actuating. This may not be the case with your PSD.
You could verify by simply turning off the Climate controls and not turning them on until;
1. The time has passed when you normally hear this noise. Then listen for it once you turn on the AC. If turning on the AC creates the noise, it's one of the two causes above.
2. Or go ahead and turn them on once you hear the sound 'cause that'll pretty much rule out the Compressor clutch or door.
Just in case, the AC will NOT turn on when the control is in the Face only position and the Foot only position. All others actuate the AC.
If this doesn't help, well just stay tuned! I'm sure the following replies will answer it for you.

I have the same problem with mine when I start it up although it doesnt do it all the time I dont think that it is the climate controls because I normaly dont have mine turned on at start up.

I have a 2001 F250 4x4 PowerStroke SuperCab and I sometimes hear a single 'thump' from the front passenger-side of the cab. I have thought it might be the front axle engaging but maybe it is the AC. I will try alternate the AC on and off in the morning to see if coincides.
