Ugh...still no luck getting any 300 I6 or 390 engine/frame towers and I'm about over it. It has my project at a dead stop and if i had some it could be on the road in less than a day. I cannot find anyone who has those for a 4x4 and I was wondering how feasable it might be to just *make* some My friend has somewhat of a machine shop...he sold most of the good stuff but might have enough equipment we could use. And he has a welder and plasma cutter. Any idea as to the dimensions. I really need to get some mounts or somethin to get this project on the road.
well, if you could find a truck with the towers in it, just measure them and i dont think making them is a bad idea if you are good with a welder...are you running the 6 or the 390? i am just wondering about application. i would think the biggest part of making your own is that you keep the side to side as close to the same as you can to keep driveshaft angle right, and help the tranny line up on the crossmember.
Mach, where do you live ? The items you are looking for should be plentiful and cheap in the salvage yards. If you want new ones, autofab makes them. They have lots of ford truck stuff. DF, @ his Dad's house
The FE is what I'm swapping in. I live near knoxville TN. All the yards have either 2wds w/ I6s and FEs or none at all. I cant find chit for a 4x4. Or they want 100-200 bucks. I need something reasonable. And new is now reasonable
