Exclamation Codes

How do I pull down the codes. Autozone will let me take the code reader out and do it in the parking lot but will not show me where to plug it in or how to do it. F-150 97 4x4. Stumbling, Hesitating and dying at lights after it is warmed up. No power when pressing accelerator especially going up hill. KNN air filter is clean. 72,000m, never changed a thing.

The code reader should plug into a port under the right side of the steering column (at least for '99's and newer it does, I'd think it'd be the same for the '97-98's too).
Turn the key on, but do not start the engine. This will give you the codes stored by the PCM. That'll get you started.

Autozone should have a book for their scanner. If not, I'd think about another parts place.

Im sure 96 and newer vehicles were all required to have the same type of computer plug installed, I cant remember what they call it, makes emission tests a snap!

The connector is required to be close to the steering wheel.

Be sure to WRITE DOWN any codes and post them here BEFORE purchasing any parts.

BTW, was the CEL/SES light on?

As for making emissions testing a "snap", my opinion is that it makes emissions testing a "scam" since anyone with a scanner can check the computer. They aren't actually testing the emissions any more, just relying on the onboard cumputer and sensors.

An Autozone employee should do the read for you.
If they don't, go somewhere else. That is B.S.

I had a code pulled, it read P0141B-02S Htr. circuit bank 1 sensor 3. Where is this sensor, how much should it cost, can I replace easily myself and how does it affect my 97 f-150 4.6 4x4 performance? Check engine light directed me to this find.
Thanks for any feedback. Look for data link connecter under steering wheel it has a black cap over it. I do not live near an autozone nearby it cost me 75.00 for code to be pulled.
