Help Replacing Driver's Side Mirror
Help Replacing Driver's Side Mirror
Well, I caught my mirror on the frame of my garage door as I backed out this afternoon. The mirror will fold back to the door, but it sure doesn't like to fold forward towards the bumper.
I now have several pieces of mirror bracket along with a spring. No more driver's side mirror.
Does anyone know how easy it is to replace the mirror bracket? It looks like the mirror itself, along with the housing for the adjustment motors, is still intact. It was hanging by the electrical wires. The plastic bracket that holds it onto the door snapped, though.
Should I be able to find just the bracket at a junkyard, or do folks usually sell the whole unit as a package?
What trim do I need to remove to get to the mounting bolts. I have not looked at it in detail yet, but I figure I will either have to pop off some of the exterior trim around the bracket or maybe even the triangular interior trim module to get at the bolt heads. Has anyone else done this job?
Thanks.

You will probably have a hard time finding just the bracket. The mirror should just have a few bolts on the inside of the door frame. You will need to remove the door panel. Its pretty easy. Pull off the vertical piece at the top, there should be a screw or plasitc rivet there. There is another screw behind the door handle (pull of the trim around the handle or remove handle, not sure on a 97) Then pull off the switch panel and disconect switches. Then the entire door panel comes off by lifting it UP, dont pull it toward you. Hope that helps
