Ford tachometer

I acquired a dash cluster with gauges and tach for my 83 recently.
Anybody know how I connect the tach? Just run a wire from the coil to the tach? (GM uses an inline noise filter). Thanks

Does your truck have a cluster with guages, or with idiot lights?
If your existing cluster has guages, just plug in the new one, and you're good to go.

Thought about doing the same myself.Mine has the gauges,(i.e. speedomoter, fuel gauge, temp gauge, oil pressure gauge,etc.).I should be able to plug it in then, right?

Do you have a v8 or a 6 cyclinder. You may have to cut and ground a wire if it is a v8.

With the factory gauge cluster, and the proper engine harness for the engine, there is no need to alter the wiring. V8 harnesses have the ground wire required by the tach.
If you have an existing cluster with gauges, and the engine has the proper harness(the tach feed plug is brown, beside the ignition module) with a black and green wire on the cab harness side. On the engine side, the V8 harness has both, a 6 cyl harness just has the green with no ground.
