Well, i'm tired of looking so I need help. I want to tub my rear fenders on my 56 truck. I'm interested in the stamped tubs as opposed to the pittsburg type which gives you a 90 degree angle on the inside of the bed. Can anyone give me the name of a manufacture for that style of tub. Dennis Carpenter can't give me a timeline for getting them in stock. Thanks in advance for the help
Ok, I found a pair of inner wheel well fenders from a 66 Chevy pickup and they work just great. I cut them in half length wise and welded the first one in place. It has the flange on the bottom that enables me to bolt down into the wooden slats The best part of the whole deal is that I only paid 9.00 a piece from a pick a part wrecking yard. Beats 300.00 pair.
I also am looking for some chevy tubs to use, do you happen to have any pics? Why did you cut them? Do they come out past the frame rails if uncut? Thanks. Pics would be awesome
I was originally going to leave them alone as I was going to get rid of the stock leaf springs and go a 4 link suspension. The other reason is that the Chevy wells are bolted in and I was not going to bolt them. Some would say to just use the flange but, there would be a quarter inch gap at the top that would need filling or live with the gap. I cut them to 5 inches and the look pretty neat to me. I would be happy to email you some pictures if you send me your email address. I even got an extra pair of 72 chevy fenders that I could part with. The shape is different and a flange would have to be added on the inside to bolt thru the wood slats. That would be quite easy as well. I do believe they are a little taller. The 66 wells are under 12' tall and fits nicely.
Nice Truck, I wish the roadway around here would all that. I'm worried that mine with a MII and 2" drop spindles may be to low here. I to would like to see some picks please. IronRoseWK(at)hotmail(dot)com.
