Spark plug location
I have an 02' Tribute with a 3.0l v-6. Assuming that the engines are basically the same between the escape and tribute, does anyone know where the plugs are on these things??? Not looking to change them anytime soon, but I just did the ones on my 97' 5.4l and that was a tricky job. Any input is appreciated. thanks in advance.

The front ones are easy. Just remove the decorative cover. The back ones are harder. You need to remove the upper intake manifold to get at them. This entails disconnecting a bunch of hoses, connectors and EGR crip-crap. You will need a new set of gaskets for the manifold and an inch-pound torque wrench to properly torque it back down.

Ditto what ove1 said. I haven't done mine yet but a first-timer said it took about 3 hours without rushing. They could probably do it in about an hour the 2nd time around.
Was your 97 5.4 a COP system? I had a 98 F150 and they had switched by then, wasn't sure about the 97 though.

Yes bananaboat the 5.4 does have the cops. It wasn't really that bad once you figure out the system of doing them. Is the tribute a cop system too or a std system. I dont see a distributor so I'm assuming it is a cop syst.
