Camcorders

I'm looking at purchasing a camcorder. I've researched them plenty and found that theres about 2 million different models available. Currently, I like the Panasonic 3CCD MiniDV (PVGS200). It's running about $900.00 right now. Anyone familiar with this camcorder? How about the PVDV953?? Also, I'm curious about good editing software. I'm not familiar with any. Thanks in advance!

What will you be using the camcorder for? Is it home videos or do you want to get into some half way serious stuff? If you are only using it only once in w while to do some family stuff, then I would say you could get something that is a little less pricey. I have the samsung SC-D27 and I have been pretty impressed with it so far. It is also Mini-DV, and ran me around $450.
