Getting ready to install some gauges. Been reading much about Pre Vs Post turbo for the pyro. Have decided to install the pyro pre-turbo thanks in large part to Alanscott's advice. But if I do that, I doubt I'll ever see a temp lower than the 300 which is the desired cool down/shut down temp. Should I install a Turbo Temp Monitor so I don't have to worry about the shut down temp? Or, just put in a 4th gauge (post turbo also)? Am I anywhere near sounding like I know what I'm talking about?? Advise please!!
Pre turbo you will see less than 300*. My pyro is pre turbo and if you let it idle long enough it will get to 200* and sit on the peg. You can get a TTM if you like but if you have a minute of time in your day after your drive, you won't need it with gauges. Just my opinion.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Feb-02 AT 01:19 AM (EST)]I have a post turbo pyro. I see temps at idle 200 and running down the hwy at 450 to 600 deg. if I'm towing it's the same, but if push it jump to 750 to 900 deg so a chvey or ram will not kept up
I don't have any gauges, so tell me something: After you are on the highway pulling a load and the temp has been 450 or so, how long does it take to go back down below 300 when you stop, like at a rest area? Does it go right down as you slow up, or does it have to idle for a few minutes?
Thanks PS250 for the input.I ordered three gauges on Tuesday from DIS. Got Isspro Enhanced Visibility Boost, Tranny and Pyro. with the pre turbo clamp on thromocople. Also settled on the tripple Pillar mount. Hope it does not block visibility to much.
I read all I could fine on where to drill the hole at pre turbo, and thanks to your Pics, I see exactly where to drill. Other than greese, any suggestions on how to keep the metal chips from falling into the turbo intake? e.g. magnet or vacuum etc.
I dropped the Turbo Temp Monitor also on your advise. No sense in the redundency.
Well, as a shade tree, I'm reluctent to start drilling holes all over my still new PSD, but theres no time like the present.
If I need help, I know where I get get it. Thanks!
