I have a 93 F250 7.3L Diesel no turbo auto transmission 140,000.
The past few weeks it has been squeaking sounds more like
a chirping sound to me, it doesn’t do it all the time. Sometimes
you can barely hear it other times its kinda loud. I asked a
couple of people and they seem to feel that it is the vacuum pump.
So I got under the hood while it was chirping away and put a
screwdriver on the pump and put my ear to it and it sounded just
fine. I also checked the AC and the Alt. and they sounded just fine.
It seems like the sound is coming more from the center of the engine
closer to the air cleaner. Is there anything there that could be making the noise.??
Could the ijection pump be making the noise??
Any help or ideas would be a greatly appreciated.
Since I have owned the truck it's never been
overheated. I have had it for about 7 months now.
Is there a test to see if it is the water pump?
If it is the pump should I replace it?
My water pump started making those sounds and it never got hot. Turn off the engine and see if you can see any play in the water pump bearing by wiggling the fan from side to side
I just wanted to thank you
guys for the help, once again
you have helped me out a bunch.
It was the water pump, and now
I have a nice quiet (for a diesel)
engine.
