Anybody try Howes Lubricator? I friend of mine that drives trucks said the Howes was a better choice. I even found it at the local truck stop.
Mike
I personally think the Stanadyne is the best on the market. FYI, the Stanadyne Performance Formula is actually the only fuel additive that Ford officially endorses (they recommend adding it in cold weather to prevent gelling).
While my truck was in for its rear main seal I had them check my water in fuel light, they did a tsb#04-09002 "requires replacement of fuel manifold assembly, performed tsb r&r frame mounted fuel module assembly cleaned out debris and replaced manifold added fuel lubricity and conditoner dditives, recheck light off no codes"
They used 2 different additives in the fuel and one was
Howes diesel treatment (qt)
the other just has a part number, PM*15* additive-fuel (diesel)
Not sure if the other one was stanadyne or not, But the dealer is using howes for some reason, so I guess it cant hurt to use it. John
Lacks or Loses Power in Cold Temperatures:
This may be due to fuel gelling or moisture freezing and reducing fuel flow. It is recommended to use a fuel conditioner, such as Stanadyne Performance Formula, to prevent this condition. Do not use conditioners that contain alcohol. Broadcast Message 0436.
Cold Temperature Lack of Power, Poor Economy, Hard Start, Excessive White Smoke:
This could be due to gelling of the fuel, formation of ice in the fuel tanks or lines or poor fuel quality. If diagnosis finds no cause for the above symptoms, try using a fuel conditioner, such as Stanadyne Performance Formula or equivalent, that will improve the cetane level of the fuel. Do not use any product containing alcohol. If the conditions improve with the additive, then find another fuel source or continue to treat the fuel. Broadcast Message 1309, SSM #17406.
