I have a 1993 F150 with a 4.9 six. It had 171,000 miles on it and lost oil pressure and spun a bearing. I was getting about 17-18 mpg. I replaced the 4.9 with a new long block. Now, I have about 10,000 miles on it and since I have been driving it I have been having the following problems:
1. When you first start it up it almost always dies unless you give it gas. After it dies you can start it again and it will run no problem.
2. The new motor seems to have less power than the old one.
3. My mileage has dropped to about 12-13 mpg.
4. Sometimes it idles rough.
The guy the replaced it mentioned something about maybe needing an EGR valve? Any ideas?? Thanks.
