Uh OH! Not the Cyclone again. LW.......You better put your flack jacket on. Your gonna get a beating about this one! I've heard it's junk. I tend to agree with what I've heard about it here.

Well I installed the Cyclone power fan and I like it It's well maded easy to instll if you order the tools with it, I went down to the locate Ford dealer and had them remove my clutch fan. It been on my 99XLT PSD for one year with no problems. I live in New Mexcio where the temp can and do get over 100 deg. with no over heating problem and I do tow a 18ft stock trailer around. Also talk to people that have it on there own trucks not the ones that do not.

Yeah, you're right.;-) I just haven't talked to any, or found any for that matter, V10 owners that have 'em. I'm sure if it works on the PSD it'll work on the V10. But I DO want to talk with someone who has had it on their V10 for as long as you've had it on you PSD. Ya know anybody?
PLus some of the arguements (use word lightly) against seemed fairly strong. What noticeable improvements did you experience? Did you istall it in combination with other items or by itself?
If I understand it correctly, one mode will only allow the fan to come on when you remove your foot from the accelerator. Is that correct? If so, what does it sound and feel like when the fan engages? Is it virtually transparent to the user? I keep imagining the fan clutch on our HMMWV's in the Army. When they would kick in, you'd feel like someone suddenly threw out an anchor and forget about tryin' to talk over it. (Not that a Hummer is a good vehicle for "discussions" anyway...) The closest dealer/installer for me is about 1.5 hours away. I just haven't had the time to go see him to check it out further. I was talked out of it before but it was more like put on the back burner.
Well after talking to several people, including Roman, it seems that everyone is happy with theirs. But I keep hearing comments about how loud the fan is. I guess since the viscous coupling always has some slippage, the fan never turns at engine speed. With a clutch, the fan would turn full speed and hence be louder. That was one of the things I was trying to get away from, the roaring fan. Oh well...
Let first apologize for my strong words , I just went to the US GEAR wed site and found out they are mading the cyclone fans for gas motors. The first Cyclone fans that US gear put to production had alot of problems the springs were braking. I bought the second generation, still at this time they were made and desirdefor PSD not for gas motors. The diesel motor running alot coller than a gas one will, Let the HMMWV it's a diesel motor, I left the Recon Marines when the HMMWV came in. Oh well Yes I install it a month after I put in the Banks Stringer-Plus system in. Before I started Iwas getting 15mpg on the hwy, after the Banks system it went up to 17mpg and after the Cyclone fan it went to 19mpg and I running the 4:10 gears. Yes you are right mode #1 will disengage when you accelerate and when you remove your foot it engages at first sounds funny because the fan is trying to catch up to the motors rpm, But after aweek I did not feel it anymore I just got knews to it. I run my truck in mode #2 the fan is always disengage I let the two sensors turn the fan on.The only thing I still can not get use to is going down the HWY at 75 to 80 MPH and the fan kicking in, it loud. But for the Cyclone Fan on a gas motor....NO go with dual elecrict fans
One of the arguements against is that at 70-80mph the ram air effect into the radiator is sufficient to cool the engine.
You said that yours has kicked in at that speed. If you are running in mode #2 (with the sensors actuating the clutch) then those who said that would be wrong about that, correct? Were you towing?
I believe this info has "re-opened" my investigation. I'll be calling the guy this week. I really didn't want to use mode #1 as everytime I let my foot off the gas the fan would come on. I let off a lot! Will mode #2 actuate the fan while idling or only when the sensor says so?
I'm always in mode#2 towing or not. I let the sensors tell me when it time to cool the motor and trany down and in stop an go traffic I use mode#4 super cooling
