86', 302 F 150. Remanufactured engline last yr. 15,000 on it. Also rebuilt tranny last year.
Had Hubby work on it ,cause of the stalling in Parking lot, and with Ac on and knew I'd lost pickup and power. We'd replaced alot of stuff. After spending all day , he found , no gasket on egr and some other stuff. Got rid of all the codes except one.-----44------ and he doesn't know or can't figure it out. My power is back, and the "revving is gone". But it still seems to want to stall a bit with Ac on. (egr and tps are new with engine). (had a 302 MM 84' for years so am fimiliar with some of the idosyncracies of these years). thanks.
Test your IAC (Idle Air Control) for soundness. Vacuum leaks?? Last resort (that I can think of), you might want to look at bumping the idle up just a tad.
I'm assuming it's code 44r.... running test. Had the same code on my 86 f150 302 EFI, also rebuilt with many new sensors. Can't figure it out. It means something about he smog pump not working correctly. I replaced the selinoids that control the pump... no difference. All I could figure out was the smog pump was shutting off when the engine was fully warmed up. I bypased the seliond that conrols the vacum to the smog pump so it(pump) is on all the time. Always blowing fresh air downstream of the Oxygen Sensor and keeping the Cats hot so they do their job. You cannot bump up the idle on these trucks. It now idles better. Had no vacum leaks. Was getting 18 vacum, not high but in range and very steady.
