ok,
i wound up trading my 03 psd 2wd f250, for a 04 psd 4x4 f350 dually. I want to lift the truck and stick with the stocks rims. What do you think i should do. What combos look best with a dually?? any pics would be appreciated. I heard the 255/85's work wel out back. I wanted to go about 8" with 36's but dont know what or if it will work. Thanks
8" is plenty of lift to run 36" tires.......I've seen 37/12.5s under a 8" on a dually as well.
As far as the suspension, be sure to specify that it's a DRW when you order since you'll need bigger u-bolts than a SRW truck would need.
Other issue is tire width requiring wheel spacers on the rear to prevent the two tires from rubbing together. I've seen 36/13.5 IROKs on the rear a dually under a 6" lift and I think (if I remember correctly) that the owner said he had a 3.5" spacer but needed a larger one since the tires almost touched with the truck unloaded.
I've seen two DRW trucks with 6" lifts and Michelin XZL tires on stock wheels and they looked great......I believe the size of the Michelins was 9.00R16 but don't hold me to that.
Yes, the 9.00R16 XZLs on both trucks were on stock wheels.....and I believe that they don't require the use of spacers in the rear since they are a fairly skinny tire.
And with the Iroks I remember now that I've seen two different DRWs with them on stock wheels.
i have been looking at the superswamper radial tsl. 36x 12.5x 16 with a 2" spacer out back shouldnt be a problem. along with a 8" lift. any experience with these tires. Thanks
What does changing your ride height and Tire Size do to your Towing abilities. I've got an 01 Dually and have been advised not to go away from the stock tire size due to them rubbing and ading Wheel spacers. greaten the chance of Grenading your Rear Hub. I have bee advised not told I can't. However if you Use a Dually for what it's supposed to be used for .. Why bother with the lift and tires.... It's a damn good looking truck just the way it sits.
