Talking Tymar installed (one regret)

I just installed my Tymar intake last night. It only took me 28 minutes to install it. I have to say I have one regret. I DID NOT DO IT SOONER. Man I love the sound. That big WOOOOOSHING sound when you are on it hard. Now just waiting on the 4" exhaust to hurry up and get here. Hopefully it will be delivered soon.

Glad to hear you're happy! Did you replace the factory intake or another aftermarket one?

Yes, The Tymar intake replaces the entire factory air box with an open air filter that I believe is far superior. It is a great peace of mind knowing I have total filtration. The factory air box with the K&N filter is known to let dust in. Here is a link to show the Tymar. http://community.webshots.com/user/psdpics.
Dale is a great guy to work with and answered all of my questions. I credit FTE members in helping discover this system.

Fordafied,
Yes, very much aware of Dale and Tymar but thanks for your help. I was just curious if you replaced another aftermarket filter or just the stock one. I have the AIS and was just curious. Thanks!

I also just bought one from him and hope to hook it up this weekend. I didn't need the battery tray which reduces $30 from the price. I also got an extra filter with a total cost of $174 including shipping.

The non-powdercoated version costs $109 if I remember correctly.

johnsdiesel-
The one for trucks like ours, (pre-99) is about $110. The one for the SuperDuties is a little more, since there are more parts involved.

I made it out to a cool even $190. I have a 2000 PSD so I needed the battery tray. It came with the Battery tray, boot, elbow,(powder coated $8), clamp, filter, 2 bolts, filter stand and allen wrench. I upgraded so I would not have to remove the battery to change the filter.

Does any one know if the Tymar Air Filter will install on to the K&N Intake elbow. I want to keep my heat shield and elbow I have on my K&N. I just want to replace the filter element.

The Donaldson filter is designed to mount on 4" tubing, so if the K&N is the same size I would imagine yes. The only question would be the overall size of the Donaldson filter, as seen here.

There was some research done that showed that there was more to gain from decreased restriction without a heat shield than you lost from the additional 10-20 degrees at 30MPH and above. Read this thread.
