I recently removed the stock muffler from my 2002 Excursion PSD.
I like how you can totally hear the turbo - but the fluttering is
starting to get annoying. I know i should prob. replace the muffler
with a high performance muffler, but i dont want the truck to quiet that much down-just get rid of the flutter. What would you guys
recommend that i do ???????
I HAVE A 2000 POWERSTROKE AND I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I PUT A BIG BLOCK SERIES FLOWMASTER ON IT AND MADE IT A LITTLE BIT QUIETER BUT SOUNDS PRETTY COOL WHEN YOU HAMMER ON IT. I GOT IT FROM SUMMIT RACING.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Mar-02 AT 01:01 AM (EST)]one of the simplest is to put a dynomax race muffler in
I had to do this after I straight piped mine and had too much flutter.
but now I am running a 4" from the dp back and out with a turndown tip, its quiter than the 3.5 st pipe , but sounds a heck of a lot nicer.
This is on an 00 PSD not a v-01 like my name implies
what part of IL are you in , I gotta go to rockford next week

You say the 4 all the way out is quieter than the 3.5 straight pipe, is that true?
What do you now have, 4"DP, no muffler dumped behind the axle???
I'd like to hear that.
I have the stock downpipe 3" then it goes to a short section of 3.5" then 4" from the trans crossmember the whole way back and up over the axle , with a 4" turndown tip at the end
