anyone ever hear of OX Lockers?...i was told you can turn it on and off by a cable kinda like an air locker but no need for an air tank and alot cheaper.Im not sure if they make them for my truck though..a ford 10.25 rear and a dana 50 front(i plan on getting a dana 60 this summer). just wondring if anyone here ever had one and likes them or not?
I know three guys that run them right now -they all love them. they have each had them for about two years I believe, and they wheel them hard and often, so they must be tough.
I don't think they make them for the 10.25 rear ends or the dana 50. I know they make them for the dana 60 so you can get one as soon as you swap in that bad boy!
They break. Specifically, the shift fork that gooes in the housing has a tendency to break. More common, though, is that the fork gets out of adjustment, and they can be *very* difficult to engage/disengage. Most of the serious Jeep people I know won't run them. I've seen a couple guys take them back out and go to ARB.
There are some, though, that have had no problems with them. You roll the dice and you take your chances
I actually thought of getting one for the front of my truck. Ive heard good things and bad things about them. I also heard that if you get the wheel side that the differental is on fully extended somtimes you cant get the locker to lock cause the cabe it bound.

can anything be done to help correct this? i have seriously thought about getting one for my D60 as well.
That Ox Locker sounds like a cool idea. How does it compare in price with the Eaton E-Locker and the Detroit Electrac (both lock and unlock with an electromagnet).
I heard that OX was addressing the alignment issue, but I haven't heard if they resolved it yet. The cost of the OX is actually higher than an ARB (my cost is $595 for d-44 ARBs and $725 for the OX), and comparable to the new e-lockers, from what I've seen.
The one thing that turned me away from an OX Locker is they have a HORRIBLE reputation for customer service, meaning when something does go wrong you can't get ANY help. I figure with any selectable locker there are things that may go wrong. I don't expect anything to work perfectly but I DO expect a company to stand behind their product and take care of problems that arise.
they aint cheap! they run about $800 bucks but you get a cool new diff cover! LOL
The Eaton ELocker doesn't come with a new diff cover but the Detroit Electrac and Ox Locker does. The ELocker and Electrac are around 600-650 and the Ox is more. The big concern with Ox is the company has been in some serious financial problems recently and this may have an impact on customer support. The Ox is a good concept but pricey. Most of these carriers have a 1 year warranty anyway. Perhaps get an extra fork or 2 if you go with the Ox.
Fishy, Remember that on the fron Dana 60, there is supposed to be a way to activate the front ARB manually should you lose air.
Edit: There is an Auburn Ected out for some diffs now. Also, the Detroit works like a True Trac when off and a locker when on. The Eaton is open when off and a full spool when on. The Auburn is a complicated thing but is a ls when off and locker when on.
