Ive been looking into buying a stall converter for my truck. It has a C6 trany. Whats a good brand to buy? I want a 3000 stall speed, I have a huge cam. It needs one EXTREMELY bad. I have no bottom end power what so ever. What ever converter I go with is goin to be a 10".
79 custom, first why ? what type driving do you do ,if its street driving,or offroad, you have to look at what are the gears in your diff. then what size are your tires,if your tires are say, 33" and your diff. is 3.00 you may want to change the gears, I would check into this before you put in a stall convertor. If your doing off road driving you dont want you engine to Rev. up to 3000 RPMs and then slam into gear, do you?good luck on what you do.
I think this is for his 79 street truck that he has in the gallery. If hes building a street fighter/race truck then yes go with a 3000 stall converter because if you have a huge cam that makes alot of top end horsepower you will want it to kick in once the RPM's are in the upper range. I don't know what kind but TCI makes great stuff for the C6. http://www.tciauto.com/
This is for my truck in my gallery, I just put 3.89 gears in the rearend and it still doesn't pull how I would like for it to from a dead kick. I got a shift kit orderd for it. I wanted to take it to the track soon but the way its setup right now I really dont think it would even start to come to life till the 60 foot mark. This would be a big disappointment for me if I ran a bad time. It has a radical cam, .510/.536 lift. I hardley ever get it out, only on pretty days/weekends mostley.
Right now it has nothing from a dead kick, wont hardley spin the tires or even pin you any. But when it gets at 30mph I can down shift it to first and it'll shoot sideways, hook up and pin you back in the seat like a corvette. I would like to have this feeling from a dead stop..
