Here's a question. With a Porsche Twin Turbo, one of the methods of getting more horsepower was to increase the size of the intercooler and thus cool the intake air more. On the track I'd even see fanatics putting dry ice on their intercooler. The HP gain could be dramatic, as much as 10 to 15%
On these diesels, there is no intercooler. Is there, or has anyone made, an intercooler for the turbo, and does it increase the horsepower on the diesel?
The intercooler is in front of the radiator. hoses lead from turbo to intercooler and back to the intake. Hose on drivers side should be the hot side. An intercooler looks like a radiator because thats what it is.
I will have to investigate fully then. With an intercooler I won't be as paranoid about a nice 50HP chip for towing. I didn't ask and they didn't tell.
we have been intercooling heavy truck engines since the early 70s bith air to air and air to water. Darn turbos heat up the air pretty bad and make it you lose alot of the density that you are trying to gain with the turbo. Just don't forget you need fuel to go with that air
