Definately not. Propane is a fuel, and will raise the EGT's. Additionally, if you plan on running a 100hp program and propane you will have to get the chip customed burned for propane or seriously risk making the whole shootin' match go BOOM.
lol, i guess i shouldnt belive everything i read in fourwheeler magazine they said this (Unlike nitrous, propane has some soothing effects on the engine too. ATS’s Torque Pro 2000 kit claims to keep the oil cleaner, produce cooler exhaust gas temperatures (by 5 to 10 percent at identical power levels), and reduce emissions. Similar statements appear in the Bully Dog literature. ATS also says, “…and in most cases, engine life increases significantly due to increased efficiency and reduced engine wear with lower internal engine stresses.) after reading that i was ready to buy the propane injection before i even got the truck. i guess its a good thing i asked. could someone let me know where i can buy a tymar intake also, thanks for all the replies, i guess ill start with the gauges then do the intake and exhaust and also the crankcase bypass, rather be safe than sorry.
I'm afraid I'll have to disagree, at least to a point. To quote jesse460, and what ATS has said:
(Unlike nitrous, propane has some soothing effects on the engine too. ATS’s Torque Pro 2000 kit claims to keep the oil cleaner, produce cooler exhaust gas temperatures (by 5 to 10 percent at identical power levels)
and
in most cases, engine life increases significantly due to increased efficiency and reduced engine wear with lower internal engine stresses.
These comments are both true. Assuming I want to pull a trailer up a hill, and to travel at the speed I choose, it'll take 175rwhp to do it. If I do it with #2 fuel alone, it'll run hotter than if I produce 175rwhp with #2 and propane. Propane is indeed a fuel, but it burns cooler than #2 diesel.
Where the misconception arises is that with propane, I can produce considerably more power than on #2 alone, so doing that will produce more heat.
do you guys run any kind of fuel addative? if so what kind?
Personally I like Standyne the best, but I have also used Diesel Kleen. I use the Performance Formula in each tank and fill the fuel bowl with the Lubricity Formula when I change the fuel filter. You can get it from Diesel Injection Service.
