I recently purchased a 1715 for my 99 F250 V10. After initalization, when it prompts me to turn the ign. back on, I do and it flashes " turn ign. back to ON" After 1 min. it flashes "Error Code 8" Anyone got any ideads what this is ????
If it makes you feel any better, I just bought one for my wifes '98 mustang and the exact same thing happened to me ! Unfortunatlly they are only open 8-5 m-f est time so I'll be calling monday. Best of luck with your tuner. Dan
yeah tell me about it. I called, they told me to replace the fuel system fuse and disconnect the harness from the fuel cutoff switch. I did it and it still kept giving me the same darn code, but you might want to try it out. I had to ship my programmer to them, so I'll see next week what the deal is.
I'll give it a try, where is the connector for the fuel shut off switch ?
By the way, where did you buy your micro tuner if you don't mind me asking ? Thanks, Dan H.
Thanks, That actually worked for me, but after thuroughly reading the instruction manual I found no mention of the switch connector itself, only the fuse for fuel pump. None the less I was able to get it programmed and to be honest...I thought it ran better with the stock program in it, feel like I paid for nothing but a code reader. Live and learn. Thanks
Are you running it in the premium fuel program, with 100% premium in your tank, and given the computer at least 100 miles (Ford computers are adaptive)?
Ken, I was using 91 octane with the new program and I'm sure I ran it the better part of 100 miles. I actually started to get major league detonation just prior to deciding to return to the stock program, I have to say this may have been due to a bad batch of gas as several people I know bought gas at this same station and also ran into problems.
I've made some modifications to this car as well:
1) off road x-pipe with mil eliminators
2) accufab throttle body and elbow (new tps)
3) cold air kit
4) stantion removed from maf
5) MSD waste coils & wires, irridium plugs
6) battery relocated to trunk, 0 gauge wire used with beefed up engine ground strap (gnds are good)
Ken, I didn't realize that ! I'm by no means a modular guru, glad you told me about this. I'll have to go to diablo sport, etc. to have a chip made. Many Thanks, Dan H.
