Hi guys, I don't know if this is the best group for my question but here it is...
I own and F150 1986, carby, recently I notice low fuel economy and after some cheking I found the centrifugal advance springs inside my distributor were broken. I got both from an used one but of course it needs to be calibrate for proper advance and my questions are:
1° someone knows how many degress should advance timing as RPM is increased??? (Not vacum advance, centrifugal advance)
2° A friend recomend me upgrade to MSD distributor it worths???
I wouldn't recommend the MSD dizzy on a basically stock application. It would be a waste of money.
I am thinking that by 3000 rpm you should get between 15 and 20 degrees of mechanical advance.
So if you have 10 deg initial, at 3000 rpm you should have around 25 to 30 deg total.
Any info on how to clibrate Vacum advanced? the only info that I found is it should start to advance at around 5" to 7" Hg vacum, but not How much should advance for about 10" or 15"....
