grill shell

I am trying to clean up and polish a 1972 grill shell ...i have been told to take the flash chrome off then ploish it and seal with clear coat...is this true? i was also told that it was stainless and all i had to do was polish...help me if you can....thats all i have left to do to the body .....thanks for the help

Your grille is anodized aluminum, not stainless. And you will have to either have the anodization buffed off of chrome plate over it.
