I have a 2001 Escape. Every once in a while, I hear a hissing noise coming from my brake pedal after I take my foot off of it. It will keep hissing until I put my foot back on the pedal. My dealer told me this is normal for this vehicle. I just bought the car from this dealer, and it came with a 3 month bumper-bumper warranty. Is he correct, or just not wanting to fix it? Thanks.
Same problem with my wife's 01 Escape. BRAKE BOOSTER. Only hisses when the brake pedal has been depressed but not all the way down. Stops when its all the way down and all the way up, correct? Its the brake booster. Go to the dealer.
The brake only hisses after taking my foot off of the the brake pedal, and it doesn't happen every time. It only happens a few times during the week. My dealer finally made it happen when he took it for a test drive. They said it was the brake booster, and they are changing it. Thanks.
Same happens to my 2001 Escape. I took it in for recall fixes and they told me that my brake booster needs to be replaced. My friend who is amechanic seems to think that it is the boot and that I do not need to replace the whole booster which the dealer quoted to me as being 400.00 to replace. so I am torn as to what to do. I was hoping to see that it would be the boot as this would be the lesser of the cost rather then replace the whole thing.
Common thing, booster-YAMAKEN your mech. is barking up wrong tree. When hissing with foot off pedal- put toe under brake pedal and pull back, hiss should be gone- only seen on 01s.
pulling up on the brake pedal does not work. I can only get it to go away if I I lightly tap my break pedal or depress it all the way down. Pulling up on the break pedal does nothing to stop it. Thanks
