I was just reading a story about two guys from my area that were killed. The driver lost control of his mustang and crashed into some trees next to the highway. They both were ok enough to get out of their mangled car and start walking toward an exit ramp for help. While they were walking they both were run over by a tractor trailer and the two cars that were following the Tractor trailor. Needless to say they were killed. That must really suck to survive an accident only to get run over while going for help. Talk about rotten luck.......
I have seen that happen here, we got toned Mutual Aide to an MVA in the next town over. It was a one Car Roll over, the occupant was able to get out of the car, started to crawl to the side of the road and was run over by another car and killed. So It is possible that is not an urban legend, that kind of stuff happens all the time.
I know of a case where something like this happened... the guy had fallen asleep at the wheel and crashed into the ditch on a deserted county road. Broke both legs, but managed to crawl up onto the roadway in the dark, where he got ran over by a guy in a pickup truck.
This happened in the early 1980's, and the fellow lived, although he was in a wheelchair. My understanding was that the original crash did more damage to him than getting ran over.
